COLLECTORS
For potable hot water and domestic heating systems
COMPLETE INSTALLED SYSTEMS FROM $8,200.00 Southern NJ and DE
Efficient collectors are the most important component of any solar system. Even a small increase in efficiency will save you thousands of dollars long term, so make sure you have the best. Apricus collectors are the ideal way to convert everyday sunlight into heat for hot water or winter space heating. Most homes with good sun exposure will require one 30 tube collector but larger space heating projects can take advantage of multiple collectors in series |

Standard Frame
|
Every collector comes complete with a standard mounting frame. This frame is used to install the collector flush on an angled roof. If your roof has a low pitch several additional stainless steel frames are available for our installation.
|
Low Angle Frame |
If your roof is less than your latitude (i.e. 45 degrees) then we may wish to use the low angle mount. This will give you a range of 9-22 degrees in addition to the angle of the roof.
|
Mid Angle Frame |
For roofs less than your latitude (i.e. 45 degrees) and closer to flat than vertical you will need to use the Mid Angle Mount. This will give you a range of 21-28 degrees in addition to the angle of the roof. We can always maximize your systems.
|
High Angle Frame
|
Use this mount on flat roofs to reach up to 50 degrees. |
Flat Roof Frame
|
For commercial flat roof applications use the High Angle Mount to reach up to 50 degrees.
|
Vertical Wall Frame
|
You may choose to mount your collectors to the side of a wall with a Mid Angle or High Angle Mount.

Solar Conversion ValveThe Apricus heat dissipator (HD) is specifically designed for use with Apricus solar collector installations that are sized for optimal winter, spring and autumn output. The HD can dissipate the excessive heat produced during summer periods, or periods of non-use. This protects systems from overheating and/or excessive hot water dumping.
Key Features
- >1.3kW heat dissipation capacity*
- Suitable for fresh water or glycol/water systems.
- Anodized aluminiun fins and outer casing for excellent corrosion resistance
- Silver brazed copper piping with 1/2"M BSP inlet and outlet.
- Easy mounting on exterior wall or in roof space.
- Able to be connected in series for greater heat dissipation capacity.
- Minimal pressure drop.
- May be used as a simple hydronic space heating panel.
- Neat, attractive design.
* Based on 80°C / 176°F water temp, 40°C / 104°F ambient, no forced air flow.
Installation Overview
The HD is installed on the return line from the solar collector(s). When the temperature in the storage tank exceeds the pre-set limit (~80°C / 176°F), the controller switches a solenoid which directs the solar return flow through the HD before returning it back into the standard flow line. Alternatively a thermostatic mixing valve/tempering valve set to a suitable temperature can be used, providing mechanic, automatic regulation of flow through the heat dissipator.
As the hot water passes through the HD, heat is dissipated via the aluminium fins to surrounding air, the vertical fin arrangement promoting a passsive air current.
One HD-25 unit can dissipate 100% of the heat produced by an AP-30 collector in full sun, during very high ambient temperatures.
The copper pipe to and from the collector should be heavily insulated, as should the lengths of pipe to and from the HD. The solenoid valve prevents flow of collector return water through the HD during normal temperature operation, thus preventing unnecessary heat loss.

Pump Stations
The Solar Pump StationPumps, Heat Exchanger, and Digital Controller All-in-One Neatly packaged and designed to simplify any solar hot water installation. The Pump Station forms the basis for a Closed Loop system. It circulates a Water/Glycol mixture to the collectors and back to a heat exchanger, where it transfers the heat to the potable (drinkable) water loop for storage and use. In a closed loop system, there are two “loops”, or piping circuits. The “solar loop” travels to the solar collector and back, and the “potable loop” draws water from the storage tank and returns it warmer. The two loops are separate and do not mix, but both connect to the Pump Station where the heat is transferred from the solar to the potable loop. For the solar loop, the unit contains the heat exchanger, a circulator pump, pressure/temperature gauge, fill/drain valve, pressure relief valve, and check valve. For the potable loop, the unit contains the heat exchanger and a circulator pump. Animated Graphic(From Purist Energy)
Solar Pump Station SPS-2-ACThis is a Dual Pump; AC powered unit that plugs in to a standard outlet running on a mere 30 watts.
This unit contains workings for both the solar loop and the potable loop. These loops consist of; two circulator pumps, heat exchanger, fill valve, drain valve, pressure relief valve, check valve and a pressure/temperature gauge. In addition this unit contains a controller, automatically turning the pumps on when the collector starts to heat the water. The controller can also be used to power additional motors, control other heat loops or eliminate excess heat from the system if necessary. All in one nice neat easy to install package!

Solar Pump Station SPS-2-DCThis is a Dual Pump, DC (PV) powered Residential Solar Hot Water Appliance. This unit contains workings for both the solar loop and the potable loop. These loops consist of; two circulator pumps, heat exchanger, fill valve, drain valve, pressure relief valve, check valve and a pressure/temperature gauge.
It is designed for use with a Photo Voltaic Panel. The (PV) panel works in sink with the collector. When the sun is shining the solar thermal collector and the (PV) panel will both be working, when the sun sets it automatically goes off.
All in one nice neat easy to install package!
